SaveInstAudio is a small, focused tool with a single job: taking the sound from an Instagram Reel, video post, or Story and handing it back to you as a clean MP3 file. It is built for creators who want to reuse a sound they have permission to use, for students saving a short lecture clip or language lesson, for DJs and musicians studying a hook, and for anyone who simply wants to listen to something again without keeping the video. You don’t need an account, an app, or an Instagram login. Paste a public link, press one button, and you get a preview player plus a download that works on phones, tablets, and computers alike. Everything happens on our server, so your device does no heavy lifting.

Why people use SaveInstAudio

Download Instagram Reels Audio for Free

Reels are where most new sounds on Instagram are born: a voiceover that becomes a meme, a remix that ends up in thousands of videos, a quiet piano loop behind a travel clip. Instagram lets you save a sound to use in the app, but it does not give you a file you can keep, edit, or play elsewhere. That is the gap SaveInstAudio fills.

When you paste a Reel link, our server opens the public page, finds the audio track that plays with the video, and converts it to MP3 — the format every phone, laptop, car stereo, and video editor understands. You get the full length of the audio as it plays in the Reel, named after the post’s caption so it is easy to find later. There is no watermark, no intro jingle, and no forced sign-up. It is the same MP3 whether you are using the tool for the first time or the hundredth.

If you are specifically working with Reels, our Instagram Reels to MP3 converter page covers extra tips, such as how to find the original sound behind a remix and what to do when a Reel shows “audio unavailable”.

How to Save Audio from Instagram

The process takes less than a minute and is identical on every device. You only need the link to the content, which Instagram lets you copy from the share menu of any public Reel, post, or Story.

  1. Open the content in Instagram. Find the Reel, video post, or Story whose sound you want and open it in the Instagram app or on instagram.com.
  2. Copy its link. Tap the paper-plane share icon, or the three-dot menu, and pick “Copy link”. On desktop you can copy the address bar instead.
  3. Paste the link into SaveInstAudio. Come back to saveinstaudio.com, paste the link into the input box and press Download MP3.
  4. Preview and download. Play the preview to make sure it is the right clip, then press Download MP3 to save the file to your device.

If the Paste button does nothing, your browser has probably blocked clipboard access. That is a normal privacy setting — just tap inside the box and paste manually with a long-press on mobile or Ctrl+V / ⌘+V on a keyboard. If you see an error, the message will tell you whether the post is private, has no audio, or simply needs another try.

Save Instagram Story Audio Before It Disappears

Stories vanish after 24 hours, which makes them the hardest place to hold on to a sound you liked. A friend’s birthday message, a behind-the-scenes voice note from a band, or a snippet of a song you have been trying to identify can all be gone by tomorrow.

Story audio works the same way as Reels: copy the link to the individual Story and paste it here while it is still live. Keep two things in mind. First, the Story must come from a public account — we never log in on anyone’s behalf, so private Stories stay private. Second, a Story link points to one slide; if someone posted several, copy the link of the exact slide you want. Our Instagram Story audio downloader page explains Story links, Highlights, and common error messages in more detail.

Works on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac

Because SaveInstAudio is a website rather than an app, it behaves the same wherever you open it. The page is light enough to load quickly on a slow mobile connection, and the controls are large enough to use comfortably with one thumb.

  • iPhone and iPad: in Safari, tap Download MP3 and confirm. The file is saved to Files → Downloads, where you can share it to GarageBand, iMovie, CapCut, or a messaging app.
  • Android: Chrome and Samsung Internet save the MP3 to your Downloads folder, and most music players pick it up automatically.
  • Windows and Mac: the file lands in your normal Downloads folder and opens in any media player or editor, from VLC and Audacity to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.

Want to use the sound in a video edit? Our guide on adding saved audio to CapCut and InShot walks through it step by step.

Is It Legal to Download Instagram Audio?

It depends on what you do with it. Downloading a sound for private listening, study, or to reference while you practice is broadly treated as personal use in many countries. Re-uploading someone else’s music, selling it, or using it in commercial work without permission is not, and it can get your own posts muted or removed.

Many Reels also use licensed tracks that Instagram is allowed to play inside its app but that you are not automatically allowed to reuse elsewhere. When in doubt, ask the creator, use royalty-free music, or credit and link the original sound. Instagram’s own Terms of Use also apply to how you use content from the platform.

SaveInstAudio does not host, store, or index any content. We process a public link you choose to paste and hand the result back to you; the responsibility for how that file is used rests with you. If you are a rights holder and have concerns, our DMCA and copyright page explains how to reach us, and our article on copyright basics for creators reusing sounds goes deeper.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save audio from Instagram Reels?

Open the Reel, tap the share icon and choose “Copy link”. Paste that link into the box at the top of SaveInstAudio and press Download MP3. After a few seconds you get a preview player and a button that saves the sound as an MP3 file.

Can I download Instagram reel audio to MP3 online for free?

Yes. SaveInstAudio runs entirely online and every conversion is free. There is no limit on quality tiers, no credits, and no sign-up. We keep a fair-use rate limit only to protect the service from automated abuse.

Is there an Instagram audio downloader without an app?

That is exactly what this site is. It works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Samsung Internet, so you never have to install an app or a browser extension, and you never have to give anyone your Instagram password.

How do I save Instagram music to my phone?

On iPhone, tap Download MP3 and choose “Download”; the file goes to the Files app under Downloads. On Android, the MP3 lands in your Downloads folder and shows up in most music players. From there you can move it into any app you like.

Can I download audio from a private account?

No. We can only read content that anyone can open without logging in. If an account is private, or a Story has expired, the tool will tell you instead of failing silently.

What quality is the MP3?

We convert at the highest quality the source allows. Instagram compresses audio when it is uploaded, so the MP3 will sound the same as the Reel in the app — no better, but no worse.

Do you keep a copy of the audio or my links?

No. Converted files are stored temporarily so you can preview and download them, then deleted automatically within 15 minutes. We do not keep a history of the links you paste.

Is SaveInstAudio connected to Instagram?

No. SaveInstAudio is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
